Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great look I purchased the fast x high not to long ago and haven't really had a chance to properly test them out but here is my first reaction to the boot. The look of the boot is great and I love the high ankle lace up system for the extra support in rough terrain but my only complaint so far is that the shoe doesn't really cater to a wide foot. This is something I've just learnt to put up with and generally just wear the shoes with a little discomfort until they finally break in for my foot, then from that point on the shoe is amazingly comfortable. It's just unfortunate that I'm usually at the half life point of the shoe anyway so not long till the next replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding all-around fast hiker/approach shoe The Fast X High Gore-Tex is a shoe that has won me over as an incredible all-arounder. I have used this boot intensively over the past 3 months during the winter-spring shoulder season in New Mexico, Colorado and New England and found it to be agile, super-light (given it's level of support), and very grippy in a variety of conditions. I have worn the Fast X with Microspikes for surer traction on icy snow---the shoes are easily substantial enough to handle the Microspikes. (The limiting factor, of course, will be their lack of insulation which makes this ordinarily a 3 season shoe--Adidas makes a Primaloft-insulated version of this shoe for colder conditions.) The Continental rubber outsole--as advertised--provides great friction on dry and wet surfaces and, surprisingly, these light hikers are fine approach shoes for moderate climbing/bouldering. The fit is precise, a quality which aids the shoe's sensitivity during hikes/climbs. While the cinching lace-up system takes a little while to get used to, but I have found (with slight modification) that it provides an efficient way for snugging the shoe--a feature which has means that I haven't had to stop and tighten the laces during long hikes. The slight modification I made was to tie an overhand knot 1.5 - 2" from the end-loop of the laces which 1) reduces the over-all length of the laces (preventing them from overhanging the boot) and thus 2) creates a "stopper" knot to keep the lace from creeping out past the lace-keeper, thus eliminating a possible tripping factor with the supplied quick lace-up system. As promoted, the Gore-tex liner works extremely well to waterproof the shoes: after daily use of three months I can still wade ankle-deep into water without any leakage. After this intensive use the boots' uppers have proven to be durable, with little visible wear. The boots are reasonably stone-proof, meaning that they are stiff enough to prevent protrusions on the trail from being felt through the sole system. While not a running shoe, per se, I have jogged steeps and flats in the Fast X's with a high degree of comfort. As with any grippy outsole compound, the tread wear is noticeable after three months--but this level of wear is slightly more durable than. La Sportiva's Frixion outsole. I highly recommend the Fast X's a generalist's fast-hiker, a boot that is supremely adaptable to a variety of trail conditions. The Fast X is also a great single choice for traveling---going from the city to the back country with ease. I have 2 caveats: the sole shows moderate wear after 3 months of daily use, also not a shoe that I would use with a pack load over 15-20 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very comfortable Bought this book size 12. so far put in about 10 miles on them. For the first mile, they pinched my small toe but that feeling went away pretty quick. I realized that the footbed need to break in a little bit. After that, these shoes are awesome. I am used to shoes with the Vibram soles but these continental soles seem even more grippy. The shoe is very comfortable and I am beyond happy with the purchase. I was considering adding an aftermarket insole in them but for now I am very happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good! I bought these after first trying the Terrex Scope High Gore-Tex shoes. I found that the Terrex ones were too tight at the toe at my normal Sixe 11 and I couldn't wear thick socks with them. Buying these at Size 11.5, I can wear thick socks and the toes feel fine. I would recommend that people buy a half-size up with these High Gore-Tex shoes ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best I've ever bought and I'm picky Very high quality, warm, lightweight, comfortable and very visually appealing! I always spend top dollar on my footwear and these boots don't disappoint! Because of the gortex lining, order a half size up. Short break in period for myself, but they really conform to your foot and get even better as they're worn!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hiking boots! So it snowed about 2 weeks ago and the temperature was 0° celcius/32° Fahrenheit and my runners weren't cutting it anymore for my everyday use. I needed something new footwear that was waterproof and not to heavy and had good grip, these boots definitely fit the bill. After a week of breaking them in they are super comfy. Strongly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted and more. I bought these for hiking and camping this fall and winter after getting a pair of Terrex Agravic shoes that I was very happy with in the summer. I have taken them out the past couple weekends and they have exceeded my expectations. The boots were incredibly comfortable right out the box and felt broken in by the end of the first day. My feet were never sore or fatigued at the end of long hiking day. I did drop one foot entirely into a creek as the bank gave out under me and the shoe kept my entire foot dry leaving me very happy with the waterproofing capabilities. Though I expected as much with the Gore tex insert, but I still have my doubts with a new product and it's claims before testing it out myself. The boots are also very light weight for being a high top and how sturdy they feel underfoot. I gave a 4 out of 5 because I like to think there is always room for improvement. I don't have anything specific that I would change about the boots right now, but I imagine the team at Adidas does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lightweight high top! It really is impressive what Adidas Outdoor has achieved with the Fast X High. Typically, when you purchase a durable, waterproof high top, they are heavy and bulky. But, these seriously are in the same weight class a mid level supportive low top hiker. I have had two other Fast Mid/High's, a Fast R GTX Mid and a Fast X GTX FM Mid. Compared to those two, these are a sturdier shoe and but once you break them in, they don't feel burdensome or bulky. That being said, WAIT to judge them until you thoroughly break them in. With every Fast line I have had, you really don't get into the sweet spot for comfort until 30+ miles. After that, they are like absolute butter on your feet! The Ortholite insoles are comfortable and start molding, especially in the forefoot instantly. For a stock insole, they also offer the most heel support out of anything I've used. The continental outsoles are worth every penny in my estimation, are the best outsoles available in any shoe. I absolutely love these and for aggressive terrain excursions at 14,000 feet, these will be perfect for me!
