Terrex FastR Gore-Tex Jacket is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent hard shell Comparable to the big outwear brands, the Adidas Terrex Fastr is on par with the competition. The gore tex active fabric is breathable which is nice with high output activities. It is light, yet offers wind and waterproof protection. It is lighter than the Patagonia Super Alpine shell, due to the fabric (gore active vs gore 3L in the Patagonia). It packs up small as well and doesn't take up a lot of room in your pack. The hood has a wire brim that can be shaped to offer protection as well which is nice. The fit is great and comparable to other brands as well. I am 5'8", 170lb and the medium is a perfect fit in the shoulders and length. There is room to layer underneath as well and offers plenty of mobility and range of motion while wearing it. My only feedback is the pocket placement - having them lower on the jacket puts them in the way of a pack waist belt or a climbing harness. Other than that, I have been extremely impressed with the Terrex outerwear and have definitely recommended it to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TESTED TOUGH IN -30 DEGREE CONDITIONS I recently ordered this jacket to use as a shell for winter activities and have already tested it in the snow, ice, and -30° F in Northern Minnesota. I’ve composed my thoughts on the fit, function, durability and final recommendations for this product! FIT: I’m a 6’ 1”, 165 pound male and the medium size was a perfect fit for me. The length of the sleeves is very conducive to a few layers underneath and it has never felt tight in the shoulders. I am also very happy with the length at the torso and how it is slightly longer in the back. The jacket isn’t baggy when worn by itself, but fits plenty of layers underneath it. FUNCTION: Effective Velcro on wrist cuffs were quick to adjust and provide a good seal from the elements. Pockets have a roomy and comfy interior, but could be improved if positioned a little higher on the jacket to accommodate climbing harnesses or a backpack waist strap. The zippers all provide a great seal, easy to use, and don’t get frozen up when wet and cold. The front zipper tends to catch the on the fabric of the jacket ¾ of the way up and I believe it is due to an unnecessary, extra fold designed on the jacket. The hood and brim of the jacket are well designed and very adjustable. I’m also a big fan of how the hood adjustments are integrated into the fabric of the jacket to prevent getting frozen up or caught on stuff. The collar of the jacket is great at blocking my neck and face from the cold winds, but I noticed that without an insulated layer underneath the fabric itself would irritate my skin after a while. The material of the jacket itself offers excellent protection from the elements despite being so lightweight and packable. With the use of a puffy jacket and sweater I was able to stay warm while active in -30° F temperatures. I rolled around in the snow and ice and the Goretex active material never soaked up water, even when I accidentally rolled into some slush! The fabric has also been stain resistant despite salt stains and a runny nose. DURABILITY: I have only been testing and using this jacket for a few weeks, but it has been put through extensive use in that time. I feel confident that the important things like the fabric, zippers, and velcro will stand up to the test of time. RECOMMENDATIONS: This jacket is best used as an outer shell in conjunction with layers. It is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. If you’re looking for something very functional, lightweight, packable, and durable in tough conditions, then the FASTR GTX Shell 3 is the jacket for you. **Slight disclaimer: I work as an ambassador for Adidas Terrex, but I still tried to be unbiased with my review**
